Why Choose Our Grand Rapids Microgreens Farm?
Clean Growing Practices

Local & Fresh
Because we’re a Grand Rapids microgreens farm, our greens reach you within hours of harvest — not days or weeks like store-bought greens. That means maximum nutrition and flavor.
Meet the Farmer
Fresh Coast Greens is run by Nathan Peters, a Grand Rapids native who turned a love of plants into a passion for growing clean, nutritious food. What started as a backyard garden experiment — growing his own food because it was the logical next step — quickly became an obsession. Nathan started sharing his harvest with friends and family, and the response was overwhelming enough to turn the hobby into a business.
But the real driving force behind Fresh Coast Greens is a belief: that we can grow 100% pure, organic food anywhere without synthetic chemicals. Nathan’s growing practices rely on natural inputs only — coffee grounds, worm castings, and other organic amendments. No synthetic fertilizers, no chemical pesticides, ever. Just clean food grown the way nature intended.
Today, Fresh Coast Greens grows microgreens for homes, restaurants, and businesses across the Grand Rapids area — all from a farm in Caledonia, Michigan, using the same natural principles Nathan started with.
Sustainable AgricultureWe minimize waste, reuse growing trays, and compost our growing media. As a responsible Grand Rapids microgreens farm, we’re committed to environmentally friendly practices.
Community Focused
We’re proud to be part of the Grand Rapids food community. We supply local restaurants, sell at farmers markets, and support farm-to-table initiatives throughout West Michigan.
The Science Behind Microgreens
Microgreens are harvested just 7-14 days after germination, when the first true leaves appear. At this stage, they contain concentrated levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Research from the National Institutes of Health shows microgreens can contain 4-40 times the nutrient density of mature vegetables.
At our Grand Rapids microgreens farm, we grow several varieties — each with its own nutritional profile. Broccoli microgreens are rich in sulforaphane, a compound studied for its potential health benefits. Pea shoots provide protein and vitamins. Radish microgreens offer vitamin C and a spicy kick. Sunflower microgreens are packed with healthy fats and crunch.

Our Growing Process at Fresh Coast Greens
At our Grand Rapids microgreens farm, we follow a meticulous growing process to ensure every batch of microgreens meets our quality standards. It starts with selecting high-quality organic seeds from trusted suppliers. We soak the seeds, plant them in shallow trays filled with clean growing media, and provide optimal light, temperature, and humidity for germination.
After 7-14 days of careful growing, we harvest the microgreens by cutting them just above the soil line. This timing is critical — too early and they lack flavor, too late and they lose their tender texture. Every harvest is done by hand to ensure quality control. We then pack the microgreens into vented clamshell containers that maintain freshness during transport to your Grand Rapids home or business.
Our commitment to quality doesn’t stop at growing. We also prioritize food safety, using clean equipment and following proper handling procedures. As a Grand Rapids microgreens farm, we’re invested in our community and committed to delivering the best possible product to our neighbors.
